How we use sources & review our guides
THE SHORT ANSWER

What should I check before buying 1688 homeware for UK stock?

Confirm the exact variant, assembled outside dimensions, usable internal dimensions, openings or mounting clearances, materials and included parts. Review a sample against the intended use, then agree the retail and transport packing and record the final carton measurements. Similar product photos do not establish the same fit, material or protection in transit.

IN THE PICTURE

Distinguish the product in use from its retail pack and final transport carton.

Third-party scene photography accompanies the guidance. It does not document our facilities or an order handled by us.

Turn the reference image into a defined product

Define the function of the exact homeware variant before comparing offers. A drawer insert needs usable compartment measurements; a shelf needs an assembly and mounting brief; a vase needs its opening, base and supplied packing identified. Ask for the material, dimensions and sample evidence for each offer. Similar product photos do not establish a shared mould, material or factory.

Separate product size from usable space and shipping size

Ask the supplier to label each dimension on a drawing or photograph. The original example below uses a storage box to distinguish three measurement tasks. It is an invented product brief, not a supplier specification or a fit guarantee. For your actual item, agree which protrusions, lids, hinges, feet and handles are included. If products nest or fold, record their separate storage, assembled and packed states.

Scroll sideways if needed. Keyboard: focus the table area and use the left and right arrow keys.

Confirm components, materials and intended use

List lids, dividers, fixings, feet, tools and instructions separately so a set has a countable contents record. Ask the supplier to identify the material and finish for the offered model, and record how colour or surface appearance will be compared with the approved reference. Products intended for food contact, electrical use, children's use or a load-bearing function can raise additional questions. Route those questions to the applicable product review; an organiser label or a seller's assurance is not a blanket exemption from safety requirements.

Use a sample to check the assembled and packed states

Request the sample in the actual variant and ask whether it represents the proposed batch. Check the dimensions, contents, assembly and the feature that determines its intended use. Identify any opening or handling needed to do that work. Keep an assembled sample's condition separate from the packed unit that may later be sold. For a fragile item, specify which visible areas, protective pieces and packing stages should be photographed. Agree any transport or performance testing separately; a careful-looking pack is not a demonstrated breakage rate.

Compare packing proposals using the final carton

Compare each packing proposal using its units per carton, gross weight and outside dimensions. Nesting or flat packing can change volume, protection, assembly work and retail presentation. Confirm any extra work or components needed at the UK receiving point. Our warehouse packaging is free; supplier-manufactured retail boxes and product changes belong in the supplier's offer. Quote freight against the measured packing and the chosen route's charging basis.

Quote the final packing proposal

Confirm units per carton, protection, gross weight and outside dimensions for each proposed packing arrangement.

Release the variant your receiving team can identify

Give the final specification a version covering the product, included parts, retail pack and carton map. Ask the supplier and checking team to use the same variant references. Keep stock with missing parts or unresolved dimensions on the decision list until the buyer has issued an instruction. Send the released quantities and cartons to the UK receiving contact, including any assembly or identification work that contact has agreed. Recheck the relevant facts before reusing old product dimensions or photographs for a repeat order.

Send the product and packing questions

Share the exact link and variant, target dimensions, proposed quantities and any sample or packaging reference. We can organise the supplier questions around one brief.

Questions before you order

Can I quote freight using the product's listing dimensions?

Use them only as clearly marked preliminary information. Obtain the outside dimensions and gross weight of the final packed cartons for the actual quote.

Do matching product photos prove the same factory or quality?

No. Confirm the supplier, exact model, material, dimensions and sample evidence for each proposed offer.

Is nested packing always the best choice?

Compare actual packed volume and freight alongside protection, components, presentation and any receiving work. The right choice depends on the product and order.

Are your warehouse receiving, storage and packaging services free?

Yes. Receiving, quality checks, photos, storage and packaging are free. Confirm the actual product and handling brief, with goods and transport amounts recorded separately.
